"You Dress like the River"

How you dress like the river
White and blue and long as forever
And you move with no effort
as you float like a feather

And you wave in the wind
Keeps my mind drifting again
And the oars of my arms
Keep me afloat for hours on

With the smooth way you talk
make an S with your walk
Curves to the end of the rainbow
And the soft way you go

Hair like grass on the banks
Eyes rounds as stones underneath
And your sleeves ebb and flow
As you dance a circle

And your mouth meets the sea
The way flowers open in the eve
Poppy field-eyes in the breeze
And my hand takes your sleeve
White and Blue and Long as Forever
How You Dress Like a River
And I float with you here
Keep coming back like a drifter

How you Dress Like a River
